How to get comped $1000’s in Vegas
If you are planning a trip to Las Vegas you need to know about comps. Let’s face it Sin City is not cheap, and most people are trying to get the most bang for their buck. This is where comps or complimentaries come in. As with everything in Las Vegas, these come in many shapes and forms. Some people are comped a key chain and some are comped a plane ticket and penthouse suite.
Comps are the freebies that Casinos like to give to their guest, in return for your gambling business. It is relatively easy for everybody to enjoy a few of these comps. It is common practice to receive a free buffet ticket upon check-in, and if you spend any time at all on the Casino floor you will soon realize that beverages are free for players.
Yet these are only the tip of the iceberg as far as the Vegas comps are concerned. With a little work is quite conceivable to have your entire room tab picked up by the casino. How? It actually isn’t rocket science and no you don’t have to be a millionaire to get a weekend on the house, all you have to do is play the game. To make it easier for you we will list a few rules of the game below. Play by the rules and you will be amazed at what you may be given.
Rule 1
Ask for it.
Seriously, ask when you are checking in if it is possible to have a room upgrade. I once was given an upgrade to a junior suite at no extra cost just for asking. Remember though when asking, it is always easier asking the boss. If you can’t get in touch with the front desk manager when checking in, try spending some time buttering up the pit boss. Also, and this is absolutely golden, BE NICE! Don’t demand anything; you will always attract more bees with honey.
Rule 2
Get a Player’s Card
Every Casino has one. The Casinos uses these little cards’s to see what type of player you are. They will track your playing habits during your stay, as well as how frequent you travel to Vegas. If you are planning on having anything comped you better sign up for one of these things as soon as you get into the Casino. Again this is part of playing the game; if you are willing to go on the Casino’s mailing list they will be willing to part with a few free nights.
In fact, if you are a medium to heavy bettor, you should try to do some research on which Player’s card will get you the most rewards. I always try to play the heaviest at my home Casino (the one I am staying in). To be honest, I usually don’t worry about my room rates when booking my stay as I know a few days of gambling and I’ll get my room for free anyways.
While it’s a fact that you’ll receive more comps if you stay and play in one place rather than spreading your money up and down The Strip, you may discover that your casino operates under an umbrella. You can then use the card at numerous casinos and rack up your points across the board. The MGM Mirage Players Club Card, for example, earns points at the Bellagio, MGM Grand, the Mirage, Treasure Island, New York–New York in Las Vegas; Beau Rivage in Biloxi; and the MGM Grand in Detroit. Members who own this card get points for slot or table play in any of these casinos, which makes them eligible for a hierarchy of special offers.
Rule 3
Charge everything to your room.
If you want the hotel to respect you, they need to know you are their customer. Honestly, if the hotel know you are spending money in their restaurants and shops they can justify giving you a room that much easier. Also remember the more info the hotel has on your spending habits will definitely reflect in your future hotel rates.
Finally, be realistic. Don’t expect a free room on your first Vegas visit. Do, however, expect a discounted rate at the end of your stay and most definitely on your next visit.
