Things to do in Las Vegas for New Years

newyears.jpg

Las Vegas does so many things well it is hard to say one thing stands out more than another. But, if I was forced to …. I would definitely pick New Years. Sin City has earned it’s nick name with years of partying practice.

New Years in Las Vegas is outstanding, but the secret has been out for some time now and most people choose to book their hotels well in advance. Don’t worry though if you haven’t booked yet, there is still hope, but expect to pay a premium as this is probably the single busiest time in Las Vegas.

If you are still looking for a room I suggest using the hotelscombined.com search tool. It’s a free tool that will search all the hotels available over several travel networks at once. Very slick.

Warning! If you have never been to Las Vegas for New Years expect to be blown away!! The city is alive from the moment you arrive, the air is electric with hordes of people everywhere. The famous Las Vegas Strip is shut down for traffic in the afternoon and people fill the street.

It is always a good idea to have a plan when the city is this busy. Most shows are sell outs and need to be booked before your trip. Here are a few ideas.

1.       Fireworks on the Strip

2.       Street Party on Freemont Street

3.       Watch the Goo Goo dolls at Mandalay Bay

4.       Party with Earth Wind and Fire at The Venetian

5.       Watch David Copperfield perform at The MGM Grand

6.       Go weightless with a Zero G flight

If this all sound a little overwhelming for you, there are a few other possibilities. A mere week earlier, over the Christmas holidays, Las Vegas is practically a ghost town. For those of you who enjoy Las Vegas but not the crowds you may want to consider a Christmas Vacation in Las Vegas.

For the New Year’s party crowd I will be compiling a more complete list of events that are happening over the holidays. Expect the posting sometime next week.
