Pardon me, but how much for that car?

Could you imagine what it would feel like to be driving a 1927 Bentley roadster? The wind in your hair the smell of old leather in your nose. Or how about a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud? A Lamborghini? Cars like these are more like a piece of art than an automobile.

So what does this have to do with Las Vegas? No, this post is not about the cars you can see driving around Sin City, and yes you probably can see anyone of these cars on the streets of Las Vegas. I am talking about a more personal experience. One where you can get up close and personal with some or the most treasured automobiles on the planet.

Las Vegas in on FIRE

January - 26 - 2008 Reporter: Rick

On Friday Jan 26th 2008 a fire swept through the top two floors of the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas. Amazingly the majority of the fire was on the exterior of the building. I will repeat that.. the majority of the fire was on the EXTERIOR of the building.

Am I the only person on the planet that finds this a little odd? I mean the majority of flammables and fire starters. The exterior of the Monte Carlo is apparently sprayed with a textured “foam like building material” that is extremely flammable.

Fire Chief Steve Smithsaid it was too early to assess damage or say what caused the fire, which began just before 11 a.m. There was no immediate indication of criminal activity or arson, but "nothing is ruled out at this time," he said.

Let’s hope they get this sorted out, and this is just a thought .. but maybe you guys should not spray flammable foam on the outside of your billion dollar resorts.

Las Vegas and Poker Tournaments

January - 22 - 2008 Reporter: Rick

Lately, I have been playing poker at some of the free online rooms. To be honest with you I kind of missed the boat on poker, sure I would play a few hands here and there but nothing like the craze that was sweeping the globe over the last 5 years. Having now found my game, I have decided to play in a tournament next time I go to Sin City.

It occurred to me though that this may be easier said than done. There are a lot of questions that remain un-answered before I can actually play. Such as who, what, where and why.

5 Reasons to visit Las Vegas

January - 19 - 2008 Reporter: Rick

Convenient and Cheap

Some places are definitely more beautiful than Las Vegas. Costa Rico springs to mind. The problem is it is just too far away (at least for me) to enjoy for a weekend. I would spend more time on planes or waiting for connectors than I would on vacations. Las Vegas in contrast is usually only a few hour flight at most (at least from North America) with lots of airlines offering multiple flights.

The Shows

Las Vegas has become well known for it’s off Broadway shows. In fact, the new Las Vegas slogan “your Vegas is showing” is specifically targeted at promoting the shows. The one thing that is often over looked is that on any given nights, visitors can choose from multiple shows although we definitely recommend buying your tickets before you travel.

Architecture

A Pyramid, the Eiffel Tower, New York City and Ancient Rome not to mention a pirate ship, the canals of Venice and the Bellagio fountains. Las Vegas has as many sights to see in one city block as most countries have. It is stunning to see the least and absolutely worth the price of a plane ticket.

Gambling

This isn’t for everybody, but the fact is Las Vegas would not even exist if it wasn’t for the gambling. It is a draw upon itself. Don’t believe me, then visit Las Vegas during the Super Bowl or for March Madness. This place is still all about the gambling and NOBODY does it better.

Debauchery and Dining

Ok  so these things may not really sound like they go together , but , I have  a young family and anytime I can find a little time to spend having a few beers or going for a nice dinner is special to me. Las Vegas specializes in both of these. It is pretty normal to have a beer at any time of day; you will see tons of people enjoying themselves at 5am or at 9pm. As for dining, you can make a very good argument that Las Vegas is now the premier location for restaurants and chefs in the entire world.
