So another successful trip to Las Vegas has come and gone. Successful in that I made it there and back and thoroughly enjoyed myself, not in making any money at gambling.

This trip was a bit different for me though, as I went with a specific goal to have one heck of a great steak dinner. to be honest it is almost harder to have a bad steak dinner than a good one when it comes to Vegas.

Anyways back to the trip. I made it into Vegas just before noon, with no real plan besides having as much fun as possible, in the one day I had allotted for this trip. So, I headed directly to Caesars Palace (still my favorite casino of all time). Where I spent I good chunk of the day gambling and drinking. Basically what Las Vegas is all about. I also had a great lunch at the Cheesecake factory, which shouldn’t come as any surprise to anyone that has eaten there before.

As day rolled into evening I decided I needed to find a place to crash for the night. After trying Bally’s and The Paris, only to find a convention in town (of course). I decided to give New York New York a try again. After all, I had a great time there in March.

To say I was happy with the reception I received at NY,NY would be an understatement. The casino host I talked to (Melissa?) was pleasant and quickly offered us a comped room. I think this has everything to do with my wife’s gambling habits and nothing to do with this small blog, but, nonetheless I was treated to a free room. Which leads us to my decision for dinner.

Gallagher’s Steakhouse in the NY,NY hotel is my kind of place. With a casual fine dining environment, shorts and jeans are welcome, which is a blessing when the temperature is over a 110° F outside.

The menu is small but quite nice. One thing to be aware of is all steaks are served with no sides, you will have to order them separately and yes they charge extra for the sides. I found that all the sides we ordered were more than enough for two and probably enough for three. I went with their signature sirloin steak (which was outstanding) and my wife ordered the "small" Prime Rib (which is the size of a cow).

I just realized that this post has kind of gotten away from me, so in conclusion the meal were outstanding, the service was OK, and the ambiance is perfect. Highly recommended!

I recently returned from Las Vegas and I have to admit I committed one of my cardinal sins; I bought my tickets at the box office and paid at least 20% too much. Granted this was a last minute trip, but it is always recommended to buy tickets before you go. Not only will you save some money but you will guarantee yourself a spot.

I usually recommend sites like or StubHub.com today we will look at a new service. Actually new may not be the right term for Tickco.com as they have been around for over a decade but nonetheless they are new to MeOnNeon.

Looking over their inventory I have to admit that I am quite impressed. They do offer a complete line of Las Vegas shows but their specialty is broadway show tickets. Add to this a complete sporting event line-up and you should be able to find just about any show your heart desires.

As far as prices they seem to be competitive but not ground breaking. For instance, David Copperfield tickets at Tickco.com range from $199-$341 while over at they offer tickets as low as $184 for the same show. Admittedly Tickco offers a greater seating selection though.

As I stated earlier, this is not where Tickco shines. Their bread and butter are Broadway Tickets. The selection is one of the most complete I have come across and if you are looking for sold-out seating for broadway tickets they are practically impossible to beat.

In conclusion, I would say that Tickco.com is definitely worth looking at before you buy your tickets. They have a solid reputation and a great selection. If you have used them before let us know what your thoughts are.

I have come across a Las Vegas company that is offering a very interesting service. Tix 4 Tonight is a ticket selling service that provides tickets to Las Vegas shows, concerts, attractions and sporting events at discounts up to 50% off the face value of the ticket, on the same day of the performance.

Now to be perfectly honest I have never used this service because I just found out they actually existed, so it impossible for me to give any type of review on their services. To make you feel more comfortable though a LOT of people have been using Tix 4 Tonight as their parent company Tix Corporation has just reported a record for gross ticket sales in the month of November.

The only down side I see to this service is they currently do not offer any way of purchasing tickets online (http://www.tix4tonight.com/) instead they offer tickets through five prime ticket booth locations, strategically placed at highly foot-trafficked locations in Las Vegas, Nevada. They include: the Hawaiian Marketplace at the South end of the Strip; the Fashion Show Mall in front of Neiman Marcus, directly across the street from the Wynn Resort at the middle of the Strip; at the North Strip, just South of the Riviera Hotel; a downtown Las Vegas facility in the Four Queens Hotel, fronting onto the Fremont Street Experience; and the newest facility located at the South end of the Strip in the Showcase Mall, behind the giant Coke Bottle, across from the New York – New York Hotel.

If you are traveling to Las Vegas over the holidays I recommend you try their service and let us know at MeOnNeon what you think.

The Big Kitchen Buffet definitely always delivers on selection; however their choice of selection is a little disappointing for a Las Vegas buffet.

The Good:

Excellent service, fresh orange juice and fresh coffee. The décor is pleasant although it may be a little casual for Las Vegas travellers. Breakfast is good.

The Bad:

Although they have a lot to choose from the selection is still quite poor. Lunch and dinner are not very enjoyable.

As with everything in Las Vegas things are always changing so maybe you have had a different experience at the Big Kitchen Buffet. If so, I encourage you to share it here at MeOnNeon>

One of the things that bothers me the most when traveling to Las Vegas, is after sitting in line to get on an airplane, ride the airplane for a few hours and lastly wait to retrieve my luggage at the airport I am stuck waiting in line at the hotel just to check in.

I have finally come across a solution for the last stage of my travel woes. Certain Las Vegas hotels are now offering an option to check into your room, right at the airport.

By utilizing Caesars’ hotel check-in facility at McCarran International Airport you can check into your room and receive your room key, all before leaving the airport. Any of the Harrah’s hotel groups should be available at this facility. I would recommend a quick visit to your hotel’s website or even a quick phone call just to confirm

The Caesars’ hotel check-in facility is located at the McCarran International Airport; Terminal 1 (in front of Baggage Carousel #1) and operates daily from 10am to 10pm.

Another option but, more for checking out is to use the Bags to Go service. They offer a service for shipping your bags to the airport from your hotel. I wrote a quick post about them here.

If you enjoyed this post, you should consider signing up for my feed.
