Elton John is made of pure magic, and he is bringing that magic and charm to Caesar’s Palace for 22 shows starting on June 3rd. The 60 yr old artist’s venue is a must see on my list, as he is my favorite singer of all time, justifiably so I might add. I challenge anyone to NOT know at least one of his songs/ hits. Over 4 decades of amazing music and lyrics will be performed in one of the world’s most legendary hotels and casinos, in a city that begs for and provides greatness. This is one concert that must not be missed for all of those lucky enough to be in Sin city from the 3rd of June until the 22nd.

I would like to welcome those readers that have not previously visited Me On Neon. I hope you enjoy your stay. As for those that have visited before I would like to welcome you back and apologize for the big gaps in post lately.
So what has been going on with Sin City lately, well considering the city never sleeps, an awful lot. Here are a few highlights.
Toni Braxton who was scheduled to perform at the Flamingo has been pushed back for at least a month. Although spokespersons cannot comment on Braxton’s medical condition, the show has been cancelled since April 7th when the singer was hospitalized with chest pain. If all goes well expect to see Toni back on stage on June 6th.
On a happier note Jimmy Buffet and his band The Coral Reefer band are set to perform this fall in Las Vegas. Dates for the event are October 18th and 25th at the MGM Grand. Tickets are available at PurchaseTix.com. I already have mine for the 18th; maybe I will see you there.
So what are the top shows to see? The hottest acts in town right now are a threesome of old staples. Not necessarily in order here are the hottest sellers at the moment:
Blue Man Group
Monty Python’s Spamalot
Penn & Teller
This honestly surprises me, I thought everyone would have seen Blue Man and Penn & Teller by now. As for Monty Python, I only managed to see it on my last trip.
Until next time, have fun and remember to gamble within your limit!

On Saturday April 12th, Bon Jovi will be performing at the MGM Grand’s Garden Arena. With worldwide sales of over 120 million records, you would expect their shows to be sold out everywhere. Thankfully, this is not the case on April 12th.
Tickets are still available for most seats, but with ticket prices ranging from several hundred to several thousand dollars each, it may be a bit out of your price range. Still, I cannot think of a better place to watch one of the truly great rock bands from the 80’s.
I know Daughtery was opening for them a few months ago, but I couldn’t confirm if they were going to open for the Las Vegas show. If they do, I would have to put this on my must see list.

In the past 15 years Cirque Du Soleil has become synonymous with Las Vegas. It is hard to book a trip to Las Vegas without including a night at a Cirque show. There are currently 5 Cirque Du Soleil shows in Las Vegas. Here is a brief overview of them.

Celine has moved on from Las Vegas, but there is a new diva in Sin City and one that just seems to fit the Vegas mould. Cher just seems to be a more natural fit to Las Vegas than Celine ever was for me.
Richard Abowitz over at The Movable Buffet thinks that Cher will be a hard sell for the Colosseum marketers. I am not so sure. Although the prices are admittedly a little steep, they are fairly average for Las Vegas. Cher starts performing on May 6th and the prices will range from $95 to $250.
So why do I think that Cher will do well in Las Vegas?
This is Sin City and although there are some amazing performers doing well, there are just as many border line talents making some outstanding money and selling out every night. Can you say Wayne Newton?
It seems to me Cher brings the reputation and work ethic that is needed to survive in Vegas. As she told Mike Weatherford "Las Vegas is way over the top, and the show that I do is way over the top. I feel that it just has to be," Cher, 61, said in a telephone interview. "I guess you could go on in a black dress (and sing), but oh, I would just want to slit my wrist."
Sounds to me like the right attitude.

I thought it would be fun to list my must see list in Las Vegas. These all are standing shows and not the one time shows like Donny and Marie Osmond, so for the most part they should be available for you to book for your next vacation.

Yes the Osmond siblings are set to perform in Las Vegas in the middle of July. The MGM Grand’s Hollywood Theatre will be home to Donny and Marie Osmond from July 17th to 23rd 2008.
PurchaseTix.com
has recently put their tickets on sale. With the immense popularity that the Osmonds garner I would not leave it till the last minute if you are a true fan. When we first broke the news here on Me On Neon the response was enormous.

The magic of Penn and Teller is generation gapping. The two talented magicians have now been performing together for over 30 years. And after all this time they show no signs of slowing down.
Their newest collaboration “Penn & Teller: Bullshit!” for the Showtime network, is in its fourth season. Over which time the controversial show has piled up an impressive six Emmy nominations and the 2004 WGA award for Outstanding Comedy/Variety Series.
Luckily for Las Vegas travelers they have a permanent home in Las Vegas at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.
Known as the "Bad Boys of Magic," for supposedly revealing the secrets to their tricks, they may show you how it´s done, but they still manage to leave you startled. As seen here.
With a show, that on any given night can involve knives, guns, a fire-eating showgirl and a duck. How can you possible go wrong?

The Wynn Las Vegas is an amazing resort, so it only stands to reason that it’s keystone event is equally amazing.
La Rêve is a dream world water show. Fantastical, humorous and playful characters showcase a dream-like story of love and loss.
It has been described as a “sensory overload” by some and “mesmerizing “by others and it is a must see in Las Vegas. This is a show that you will remember forever. Outside of Las Vegas such a show is nearly impossible as there are no other stages this unique or technology advanced.
I know I am gushing over this show but, I have nothing bad to say about it. Every seat in the house is perfect. The music was amazing the choreography was flawless and the costumes and performers were truly one of a kind.
Highly recommended.

Monty Python’s SPAMALOT is a musical, actually no; it is an absolute hilarious musical. It is loosely based upon the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail and like the movie it is a spoof on the legend of King Arthur.
Unlike the movie however, is the excellent Broadway musical that SPAMALOT has become. Eric Idle a member of the Monty Python team wrote the musical’s book and lyrics. He has since collaborated with John Du Prez on the music. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed. Running since March 17th 2005 SPAMALOT has won 3 Tony awards, including the Tony for best musical of 2004-2005.
