40 YEARS OF Elton John

May - 27 - 2008 Reporter: Treena

Elton John is made of pure magic, and he is bringing that magic and charm to Caesar’s Palace for 22 shows starting on June 3rd. The 60 yr old artist’s venue is a must see on my list, as he is my favorite singer of all time, justifiably so I might add.  I challenge anyone to NOT know at least one of his songs/ hits. Over 4 decades of amazing music and lyrics will be performed in one of the world’s most legendary hotels and casinos, in a city that begs for and provides greatness. This is one concert that must not be missed for all of those lucky enough to be in Sin city from the 3rd of June until the 22nd.

Las Vegas updates

May - 9 - 2008 Reporter: Rick

I would like to welcome those readers that have not previously visited Me On Neon. I hope you enjoy your stay. As for those that have visited before I would like to welcome you back and apologize for the big gaps in post lately.

So what has been going on with Sin City lately, well considering the city never sleeps, an awful lot. Here are a few highlights.

Toni Braxton who was scheduled to perform at the Flamingo has been pushed back for at least a month.  Although spokespersons cannot comment on Braxton’s medical condition, the show has been cancelled since April 7th when the singer was hospitalized with chest pain. If all goes well expect to see Toni back on stage on June 6th.

On a happier note Jimmy Buffet and his band The Coral Reefer band are set to perform this fall in Las Vegas. Dates for the event are October 18th and 25th at the MGM Grand. Tickets are available at PurchaseTix.com. I already have mine for the 18th; maybe I will see you there.

So what are the top shows to see? The hottest acts in town right now are a threesome of old staples. Not necessarily in order here are the hottest sellers at the moment:

Blue Man Group

Monty Python’s Spamalot

Penn & Teller

This honestly surprises me, I thought everyone would have seen Blue Man and Penn & Teller by now. As for Monty Python, I only managed to see it on my last trip.

Until next time, have fun and remember to gamble within your limit!

Bon Jovi in Las Vegas

April - 4 - 2008 Reporter: Rick

On Saturday April 12th, Bon Jovi will be performing at the MGM Grand’s Garden Arena. With worldwide sales of over 120 million records, you would expect their shows to be sold out everywhere. Thankfully, this is not the case on April 12th.

Tickets are still available for most seats, but with ticket prices ranging from several hundred to several thousand dollars each, it may be a bit out of your price range. Still, I cannot think of a better place to watch one of the truly great rock bands from the 80’s.

I know Daughtery was opening for them a few months ago, but I couldn’t confirm if they were going to open for the Las Vegas show. If they do, I would have to put this on my must see list.

Tickets are available at ticketsguaranteed.com and at

Cher in Vegas

February - 17 - 2008 Reporter: Rick

Celine has moved on from Las Vegas, but there is a new diva in Sin City and one that just seems to fit the Vegas mould. Cher just seems to be a more natural fit to Las Vegas than Celine ever was for me.

Richard Abowitz over at The Movable Buffet thinks that Cher will be a hard sell for the Colosseum marketers. I am not so sure. Although the prices are admittedly a little steep, they are fairly average for Las Vegas. Cher starts performing on May 6th and the prices will range from $95 to $250.

So why do I think that Cher will do well in Las Vegas?

This is Sin City and although there are some amazing performers doing well, there are just as many border line talents making some outstanding money and selling out every night. Can you say Wayne Newton?

It seems to me Cher brings the reputation and work ethic that is needed to survive in Vegas. As she told Mike Weatherford "Las Vegas is way over the top, and the show that I do is way over the top. I feel that it just has to be," Cher, 61, said in a telephone interview. "I guess you could go on in a black dress (and sing), but oh, I would just want to slit my wrist."

Sounds to me like the right attitude.

Tickets for Cher can be found at www.PurchaseTix.com using the keyword “Cher” or at StubHub.com
