Foreigner and Styx were (and are) rock legends throughout most of the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s and they will be perfoming together at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on May 22nd 2010. Tickets don’t go on sale until Saturday March 10th 2010.

For you young-uns who don’t know who these legends are, this trio of bands are responsible for countless Top 10 hits and well over 100 million combined album sales, Styx, Foreigner and special guest Kansas will bring the “United in Rock” tour to the Mandalay Bay Events Center Saturday, May 22 for what many believe will be the “tour of the summer.”

So where can you get your hands on tickets? Sorry I don’t have a link to pass on yet, but will do so first thing on Saturday… tickets are to be priced at $55 and $85.Sounds reasonable enough to me!

Large trade shows are no stranger to Las Vegas, as they expect 25 different trade shows that will generate nearly $2.4 billion to the local economy. But, that economy is in need of the CES™, one of the few trade show that is expected to have a stellar attendance. In fact, a record number of new exhibitors, more than 300, are expected to join and already burgeoning crowd of 2,500. All vying to show their latest technology innovations for 2010. With more than 20,000 new products on display, the International CES™ is the world’s largest consumer technology trade show.

If you are attending this year, here are some of the events you can hope to see:

These are just a few of the events for the 4 day event. The exhibit hours are:
Thursday, January 7: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Friday, January 8: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday, January 9: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Sunday, January 10: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

This may come as a surprise to some but Las Vegas is planning on supporting Earth Hour this Saturday night for one hour. The event, organized worldwide by the World Wildlife Fund, lasts for one hour beginning at 8:30 p.m

This will be the first time that Las Vegas participates in the three year old event. Largely, thanks to some large companies getting involved early on. Harrah’s the owner of several VERY large casinos including Caesars, Bally’s, Harrah’s and the Flamingo to name a few, was able to commit to Earth Hour quite early this year.

“We helped to open some doors,” said Harrah’s spokeswoman Jacqueline Peterson.

“Harrah’s got involved early on. One of the driving forces behind it is our commitment to environmental sustainability,” she said. “This is a way to demonstrate to the world that Las Vegas and Harrah’s are committed to raising awareness about climate change and doing something about it.’

If you have been paying attention, Las Vegas has been on trend towards a more GREEN environment over the past few years. With new hotels like the Palazzo Las Vegas receiving numerous ‘green’ rewards including the largest green building in the world. It is great to see and a welcome change.

Obviously, numerous celebrities have lent their voice to Earth Hour, including Donnie and Marie Osmond. One of the hottest shows in Las Vegas.

Elton John is made of pure magic, and he is bringing that magic and charm to Caesar’s Palace for 22 shows starting on June 3^rd. The 60 yr old artist’s venue is a must see on my list, as he is my favorite singer of all time, justifiably so I might add.  I challenge anyone to NOT know at least one of his songs/ hits. Over 4 decades of amazing music and lyrics will be performed in one of the world’s most legendary hotels and casinos, in a city that begs for and provides greatness. This is one concert that must not be missed for all of those lucky enough to be in Sin city from the 3^rd of June until the 22^nd.

I was looking around town to see what would be fun to do and here are a few ideas to try. First, off the MGM Grand hands down has the best weekend booked. I mean this hotel knows how to throw a mean party.

On Friday the 23^rd The Police are playing. I know this brings me back to my hay day (or is it hey day?) but Synchronicity has to be one of the best albums EVER made.

So they kick off the weekend with a great concert and then they manage to bringing the hottest event in town UFC. I know this stuff is a little brutal for some but I love it, and I hope Sherk dismantles Penn. I am calling it right now if Sherk is winning watch for BJ to “accidentally” give Sean a thumb in the eye. I mean seriously when are they going to deal with this guy?

OK so Friday is the concert and Saturday is the fight so what do you do on Sunday? Watch a great comedy show , right? How does Robin Williams sound? Ya, that’s right MGM manages to finish off the weekend with Robin Williams, outstandng!

If you haven’t booked anything yet you better get your butt in gear and hurry up. There are a few sales on right now that may be worth looking at. I know Virgin America has a seat sale on but whether they have availability is anyone’s guess.
