The MGM Grand
A brief history

Owned by the MGM Mirage Company the MGM Grand Las Vegas is a massive building. The main building stands a mere 30 stories but is home to 5044 rooms, the entire complex houses a staggering 6852 rooms. Add to this the fact this complex is home to five outdoor pools, rivers, and waterfalls that cover 6.6 acres, a 380,000 square foot (35,000 m²) convention center, the MGM Grand Arena, CBS Television City, and the Grand Spa and you can start to get the feel to how large this resort really is.
The modern day MGM Grand was opened in December of 1993 and sported an extensive Wizard of Oz theme. Including the green “Emerald City” color of the building, the Oz casino was completely renovated in 1996 and again in 2000, in an attempt to appeal to a more "mature" clientèle, the hotel underwent a major renovation and almost all traces of the "Oz" theme were removed. The theme is now more of the Art Deco era of classic Hollywood and the hotel started billing itself as The City of Entertainment..
Accommodations
The MGM is home to 6852 room with 4293 of these being traditional hotel rooms with another 2479 being considered suites. Add to this total 52 “Skylofts” and 29 villas and you get a property that can house an extraordinary number of guests.

The hotel rooms in the MGM are well above average. With spacious rooms and modern decor you should be quite comfortable during your stay.
Restaurants
The MGM Grand is offers up a whopping 16 restaurants for your dining pleasure. Add to this 2 food courts and you shouldn’t be left wanting for choices.
Noteworthy restaurants are “Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House” and “Wolfgang Puck’s Bar & Grill”.
Summary
This hotel definitely doesn’t disappoint when it comes to amenities. There are so many things to see and do in just this one hotel that it is truly astonishing. About the only complaint I have is the sheer size, if ever there was a hotel that is too big the MGM Grand would certainly be it. Sometimes it is just plain annoying the amount of time it takes to cross the gigantic space.
The rooms are clean and quite nice, while the suites are truly outstanding. With so many restaurants to choose from getting a bite to eat is definitely not a problem although if you are in a hurry it will take awhile to cross the huge hotel to actually get to the restaurants.
Me On Neon rating
the only reason The MGM did not rank higher is it is so HUGE.
